Things Pitry Hates: When a good story is being ruined by the writer's inability to understand that a breath-taking ending that worked marvelously in a different episode might not work again at all when it's taken out of context, and thus the last 5 minutes manage to destroy what could have been quite a lovely episode otherwise.
And that he did it with three different things.
Things Pitry Really Hates: When a good writer falls into that trap. Seriously. I can see some of the Who writers doing that... but I expected better of Steven Moffat.

A good weriter should be able to not only recognise that something worked, but also why it worked. Which would have made him take that River Song narration, "everybody lives" and the whole Gridlock rip off out out out out out from an episode that didn't need them and couldn't make them work at any rate.

MEH!

Well, I loved it despite Donna not being in it! Big Grin
Quite a fantastic and in depth showcase of human nature, I thought.

(You're up to a very ambivalent watch next week, Mike - Donna and Rose for a whole episode Smiler)

I thought Midnight was rather poor.

Midnight was great. In an episode that used very little in the way of set-pieces or effects, the acting came across well, whilst the script was particularly strong. I was very impressed (and surprised) at the high level of RTD's writing here, and I'm glad that human beings got a notably savage representation here, albeit driven by the psychological fear of a 'cabin fever' type situation. We can be complete bastards sometimes!

Yeah, apparently a lot of people commented on that. The differences were too subtle for me to catch though, didn't notice anything...

I second that emotion. I nearly had heart failure at the end of that one - so I think in the interests of our health and well-being there should be new, regular episodes for the forseeable future Big Grin
