What ever happened to that pyramid scheme (Cake) that had most of you brainwashed into believing big things were going to happen and your involvement was going to take you places? I thought from the start it sounded like a crock of shit and then one day I never heard another mention of it or from it. So…what was that all about and what happened? I’d prefer an answer from someone that knows, but I’ll settle for one from someone that thinks they know.

it was there for a while, until circumstances changed. This time round it should be more profitable...however not through Cake though.

Right, from the top... In June 2002 I was approached by Jeevas management to run their online team for them. The idea was that I'd run things in conjunction with CAKE (Also known as "electric cake" after electric artists stopped their involvement with 'Pi' and sent everything to cake. I think that's what happened...) Anyway, things progressed quite well with CAKE until for whatever reason they took no further part in online promotions for the jeevas (Roughly around the end of 2002) and the team that I was running (13Louder) became independent from their organisation. From that point until April 2005 I was taking my orders direct from Sarah Clayman. I haven't any idea if there will be another street team for Kula Shaker, though I have offered to help out again, if I'm needed. I'm sure that the majority of 13Louder would get involved again, if asked, along with anyone else who's up for it. The idea of a street team was in no way an attempt to brainwash anyone, it was entirely voluntary and the rewards were always recognised as minimal. The only problem with an online team is that people's expectations can be raised very easily. As I said, it's a job with minimal rewards and should be accepted as just that. Anyone who thinks it's going to make them rich, or anyone in management who makes fals promises to the team about special favours are labouring under some sort of delusion. From my perspective, the online team had more fun when they got together in their local enclaves to do the street promo work, whilst getting very drunk and arsing aboout, than they did when they got the odd post-gig meet n' greet. (Just ask some of the girls here about a certain night out in York, coupled with beer money and a rolll of jeeva posters.) |
