Puzzles are too complicated fopr me these days. Maybe tomorrow, when I'm not reading such mind-opening, smart and innovative people as, erm, Freud.

Well. One more semester and I'm done with this thing forever! Squee!

It matters not - I'm sure you weren't setting out to belittle me. I agree with Pitry with regards to the userhandle though - for me, Exodia/Erised are more fun than just calling myself Claire, it has never been about personal security.

But yeah, if it just comes down to preference, it's fair enough really - there are too many applications on Facebook, and some people's pages are horrific to navigate as a result. I admit to having a thing for at least four of them...

But for me it's just a load of superfluous crap, mostly.

My favourite of the sites of this ilk that I've tried is LiveJournal, simply because it concentrates on providing a simple platform where you can communicate your thoughts to people you know.

Same here... facebook just isn't for me... i find it a complete pain to navigate, i hate the use your real name thing and i hate all the annoying pointless crap.

And I absolutely love livejournal... a couple of years ago, everyone moved on to myspace though, which really annoyed me. I'm still on lj and love it Big Grin

I use them all, though lots of people neglect "the Spazz" now. Facebook has too many add ons so I have blocked a load of them.

Unless that is, you've put your real name on your myspace page somewhere and very few do that.

That's another thing too - if there was no good reason not to use your real name, then plenty of people on myspace or whatever would use it as a user name anyway. On the basis that it's as good a name to use as any. The fact that (in my experience anyway) virtually none of them do, suggests that most people see it as somewhat unsafe. And only do it on Facebook because they have no other choice.

Reading this I'm beginning to think I'm unusual in using my real name on both FB, MySpace and all forums I post on. I don't use my surname as it's stupidly formal for most of these sites. FB has a ton of daft applications, though I have to say Claire that you're very good indeed at the brain game and put my tiny dog brain to shame! As for FB being more dangerous than Myspace, I simply cut and pasted my information from myspace place to FB and all the current information about me that I don't have to include on Myspace is spoof shit about working for Humphrey Bogart as a femme fatale etc. Plus you can set your profile to private. I don't see the fuss. The only thing that kind of freaks me out is the news feed on the homepage that basically stalks you and your friends.
