For some reason, never quite picked up on the jeevas first time round cause i remeber listening to some samples on the internet and thinking it wasn't for me. But I'm prepared to relent and give them another try. Which album's the best for a kula shaker/prog folk rock fan?

I will duly go and purchase a copy.

1234 edges it. But if you're a prog fan don't hold your breath!

I prefer 1234. But there's not a whiff of prog about either. It's straight up rock n' roll, with a splash of country in C&I's case.

there is some good stuff on both. 1234 was just really depressing so i appreciated cowboys and indians more. however i keep telling myself that the jeevas are indie!!!, they are indie!!! it makes me feel better about this strange transition into country (honey shudders with disgust)

Hmmm, that's a hard question...
I think both albums are good in their own right. But, Cowboys and Indians does it for me... there are too many songs on 1234 that just sound like there's something missing...

I disagree completely! Cowboys and Indians had more cleverly concepted tunes, and the fact that it was more alt-country makes it a great choice for a starter jeevas album. Good chance for Crispians voice and songwriting skills to shine

1234 stood out for its singles and proves to be the more standard indie/ goodtime rock and rock n roll album.

Go for Cowboys & Indians. you wont b dissapointed.

K

Cleverly concepted my arse. I fricking hate country music and love everything that is 1234 therefore I loved 1234 and disliked C&I. Note that I don't hate it, there are some wicked tracks on it (The Way You Carry On for instance).

thats fair enough, but c+i isnt what country sounds like...in fact, its no where near country at all..C&I is more alt-country...aka ryan adams, tom petty, beck, sheryl crow etc.

Ok so it's hardly Achy Breaky Heart (shudders at the thought) but it's country enough for me to not like it.

Beck's country???
