We’ve had threads of favourite albums & songs and lots of posts link to video sites, which give a visual explanation of something the poster is trying to explain.

I thought maybe a thread of linked songs would be something to try. The songs might or might not be your favourites or perhaps you even dislike them. Maybe you were just reminded of a piece of music in the day, seen a link elsewhere or it just popped into your head.

My links are
Stray Cats – Drink That Bottle Down. The guitarist is usually the vocalist but this song was sung by the bassist and was a b side of The Stray Cat Strut.

The Blow Monkeys – Forbidden Fruit. I don’t know why but when ‘Muse’ first came into the public eye a few years back, they reminded me of The Blow Monkeys.

Latin Quarter – Radio Africa. I just liked this from years ago and happened upon it after searching for something else on youtube.

The House Of Love – Never. I bought their album when it first came out for a song called ‘Shine On’. The rest of the album I thought was rubbish. Two years after buying it, I gave it another play and thought the album was great. I still do think it’s great.

I was going to just do three links but my counting is appalling.

Heh I was trying to figure out what exactly was easy listening about these artists, but now I realise it's just what you decided to call the thread...

The House of Love were ridiculously hyped when they came out. I remember they had a song called "The Beatles and the Stones", which contains what I thought was possibly the most contrived couplet I'd ever heard in any song by any band, namely "The Beatles and the Stones / Sucked The marrow out of bone" But like you I returned to them later after the hyped had died down, and found there was a lot to like about them. I still have some of the early singles; I should dig them out.

"I have waited to be here
Now I feel you, feel you near
Take me home"
