Well, as someone who lives in a fairly rural area - i.e more sheep than people, I would have to say I prefer big cities. Actually I prefer the coast to either option, I live right by a beach, the openess and sense of space is lovely. But yes, I've had my fill of the countryside for the moment, I like the convenience of the city and actually the noise and people and the fact there's always something to do. It's probably just temporary 'grass is greener' syndrome but still.

Countryside wins every time

But only if it has easy access to a big city

Bit like where i live!

With the exception of the spiders - I really am terrified of spiders-I think the countryside would always be the best. Especially if you had a few wee chickens giving you fresh eggs for the morning. I just want somewhere that I can have a bit of peace and quiet. Noise is not my best friend, and I hate the apathy of city people (even though that is the type of life I have been brought up in). I can see me becoming a crazy cat lady when I get older. Living in a country house with about 50 cats. I have finished my ramble now.

Well I saw this really big spider today on the train. Would you like a picture of it?

Looking at pictures of them doesn't really bother me so much, it is just the thought of those scurrying little legs touching me that creeps me out. I am so physically repelled by them I could not even kill one, on the off chance that it might make contact with me. Sometimes, when I see one, i run like hell. Other times, I just freeze up, and totally cannot move with fear. I know that is pathetic, but hey, everyone has a phobia. Oh well, at least when I am older I will have all those cats to eat them for me!

Yes, totally agree with you there Queen Jhansi- I think I'll end up becomming a countryside hermit, then setting up my vegetarian guest house (...come bar/arts centre/local music thing...) and going mad! I think once I slide towards senility, I may well acquire an increasing number of cats as well... but I don't have a problem with spiders! I made friends with one in a pub yesterday... it's wasps I can't stand!
