Getting to work, preparing to start working, and then my flatmate catches up with me.
"Don't want to alarm you and sorry that this is my good morning greeting but back up everything you need on your computer cos there's a good chance the police would come round and start searching the flat, confiscating things, etc." My flatmate is a member of an organisation called New Profile. They support the demilitarisation of Israeli society and help teenagers who don't want to join the army (in Israel joining the army is mandatory for a period of 2 years for girls, 3 for boys). They also help and support conscience objectors who end up going to prison because they refuse to join even if their request to be dismissed was denied (which is usually the case). Obviously, the government isn't a fan - but they make sure to follow the law. Some of what they do is borderline, but they also check they're on the "right" side of the law - everything they do is legal. A criminal invastigation started several months ago against them, but I admit I considered my flatmate paranoid when she said she suspects their phones are being tapped to on a regular basis (a friend of hers was invited to an invastigation in the Shabak - general security service in Israel - once, and had bits of phone conersation quoted to her, but I thought it was just a temporary thing intended to intimidate them). This morning the police came to the houses of several activists (apparently without a warrant), arrested them and confiscated computers and materials. Now I know they weren't paranoid, I was just underestimating just how fascist this country has become. Sigh. Hopefully they skipped over my flatmate/ my landlady didn't let them in and I won't come back to my flat after work to find myself computerless and with a flat in total chaos... So! This was my morning, how was yours?... Gods have no one to pray to. |

I thought my morning was crazy... I put my boyfriend into a taxi taking him to the airport, as he is going to India for 6 weeks for work. I'm gutted that he's gone, the flat is very quiet and he's never even wanted to go to India, as I do. Bah. I tried to fit in his suitcase but he caught me and insisted that I would get in trouble if I tried to sneak in again

6 weeks would fly so fast, you wouldn't even notice they passed. Trust me! Gods have no one to pray to. |

Thanks, Pitry. I plan to see everyone I've ever known in the next few weeks and say yes to as many nights out, cinema trips, visits to tea shops (well, coffee shops but I do not drink that muck!) as I can without bankrupting myself so I don't have time to sit about the house by myself! I take it your flatmate has not been arrested and you were able to get home? Oh dear that doesn't sound good at all. So, did they turn up? Is poor Pits now computerless and your flatmate in prison? I really don't hope so!!
And Moriarty: That sounds like a sad morning indeed. I guess I'd go crazy if my bf was going to India! I hope you at least gave him a good shopping list? Whereabouts in India is he? ________________________________________ Kula Shaker Fanzine STRANGE FOLK http://www.myspace.com/kulafanzine |

I'm on th run, living wild, yeah, baby, yeah!
Nah. I guess they figured out my flatmate isn't important enough/noisy enough to try adn scare off. Or they just randomly didn't pick her, apparently the people they did choose to question were chosen in a rather random fashion... Gods have no one to pray to. |

He's just outside Delhi, and I did give him a few ideas of what presents to buy me..... he is hopeless though, so knowing my luck he'll forget. I just want some nice wooden beads to replace the ones that I bought at the last gig I saw them at the first time round (PPA tour Mar '99) that broke the night I first saw them when they came back (Apr '06).
