At least, tacky as they may have been, they had songwriters who knew what they were doing, and they didn't look like walking STIs with faces made out of purse material...

I remember quite liking the Spice Girls at the time, though I was only 11. But yeah, even pop used to be better ten years ago. I seem to remember in those early formative years of mine that people were much less bothered about being 'cool'. Not that there weren't divisions in which bands were cool or not but just that people didn't pretend to like or hate bands to appear cool. Even music magazines were better back then.

I liked the Spice Girls, cos they were 5 hot chicks, especially that of Geri. However, their music was, nay, should not be considered music.
