It does sound a mite implausible, although taking them out of the cases and putting them back each time certainly does add wear. So if repeated enough times then it could make a CD unplayable I guess. I was really surprised once to look at a game CD I'd played loads of times (and I mean hundreds) and see that it was covered in marks and scratches, even though I thought I'd been taking good care of it. So I guess handling adds more wear than you'd think...

As for Straw the band, which this thread may or may not be in reference to, I liked them before I even heard the Jeevas. I bought a couple of their singles when they originally came out; I should dig them out and listen. They were kind of Britpop-y in a way, but good with it. I suspect they probably arrived just as that whole movement was dying its last gasps, and that was why they never received more exposure than they did, sadly.
