The worst number two? Take your pick from M People's Moving On Up, Kula Shaker's Hey Dude and Yazz's Stand Up For Your Love Rights

Is this the same Paul Lester that once wrote:

quote:
Single number three was "Hey Dude", a ferociously fast and funky blast of storming drumming and freaky wah-wah pedalling that harked back to every gloriously explosive guitar-centric track in history, from Hendrix to The Isley Brothers to the Roses' "Fool's Gold", yet somehow managed to outdo all of its forebears as soon as it reached its "Hey Dude, Don't Lean on Me, Man" chorus

(from Kula Shaker: The Illustrated Story, Hamlyn, 1997). Shome mishtake shurely? I should post it in that thread really, just to make him squirm a little.

Oy, do that. Smiler
Music journalists' tendency to cater to fashion is quite entertaining and they don't sem to be confronted with it half the time!

Well I was hoping someone else would do it for me, cos I was too lazy to register for the site (and also cos I was a bit reluctant to join the ranks of Guardian commentators, who are too often the kind of people who give the left-wing a bad name.) But just for you I did it anyway :P

Yay! Thankee Big Grin

It's incredible, isn't it. This ability (or talent?) of the left-wnig to shoot itself in the foot time adn again...

Good Job, and it has inspired some (slightly incoherent) support. I've liked some stuff in the past I would rather not own up to but Hey Dude? What is the guy thinking?

Once again I have to congratulate you Drykid. This was priceless-great entertainment.
Since we are on the topic of loathsome singles my all time is most hateful single is "The Power Of Love" yuck, I even hate typing the words. Don't know and don't care who sang it.

At one time were there not 2 or 3 different songs all called "The Power Of Love" in the charts at the same time? That bloody awful long tedious, I mean heartfelt slow and moving song that got to number 1 was by Jennifer Rush
