Hello,

After feeling on what can only be described as a high after hearing the amazing news that Kula Shaker are FINALLY doing the right thing by becoming a band again, I wanted to express my feelings about this.

OK, I have ALWAYS been a fan ever since I heard Chris Evans play Tattva on Radio 1. At the time I was in a band, doing more or less the same thing as Kula Shaker (not as well, but same idea) the big thing for me was I did not feel jealous that it was not me 'making it', I actually felt great that people were again listening to classic music, music that does not go away, ever. I expected the band to become the biggest band in the World, I was convinced, well unfortunately this was never to be even though the 2 albums that the band made are simply outstanding pieces of work. At the same time bands like Oasis were 'banging' tunes out, and even though I have to admit I am a fan of Oasis, but mainly because they are the full 'rock 'n' roll' package. I feel that the reason why Kula Shaker did not connect quite the same as Oasis is due to the appeal to the football terrace marketplace. Oasis made music 'not puffy' and a bit 'hard', this allowed the normal non loving music fan (lad culture) to like the band, they even turned Wonderwall into a football chant. I see this as being an issue for Kula Shaker from this point on, and to fix it I think it’s all about making the proposition more accessible. I am not saying that the band should be creative in musical terms only to gear themselves to sell records, far from it, its the surrounding aspects that need work, and I TRULY hope that they manage this as I do personally feel that Kula Shaker are the most important British band since The Beatles.

Good luck, you have my support.

"Oasis made music 'not puffy' and a bit 'hard'"
That's an oxymoron.

Im not saying that they did not make music, Im talking about who they appealed to. I am not suggesting that the band try to be like Oasis, I just think there has to be a way to connect better to music lovers.

Are you looking for a male singer/songwriter/musician who's way better than James Blunt by any chance?

I heard they got the shaft because intelligence leaders around the world knew Charles Manson was sending Kula- Shaker his material and dastardly plans via snail mail.
And that the last attempt was spoiled when it was accidentally intercepted by the KGB working off the coast of Maine and since then contact has not been made up until here recently. It has long been a fear of what this music can do to us, so much is at stake.

I often wonder how anyone can believe such things. Kula Shaker are such a faddy band-of-the times. They stood out because they touched a nerve at that particular moment, but so few of their songs will ever really stand up to any test of time.

Ultimately, who will they directly influence? I would have to say that no band will be influenced by them. They so heavily "borrowed" from such a lot of bands that have already been that they show nothing original. Nothing that hasn't already gone before them. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing, but I can't see them ever being an inspiration to others - because of that surely they aren't an important band - they are important to a small group of people, but it is such a small group it's trivial.
