Has anyone seen the clip on youtube with Crispian, unknown (to me) lead singer, drummer and female bass guitarist covering a Monkees's song named 'Circle Sky'?
It's actually titled "Crispian Mills & Friends"
Does anyone know who the other band members are??
Simon (vocals)?

Sounds like Pi - the band post Kula, pre Jeevas.

The (hot) female Bassist was Kim Kahn, And Clive Deamer was the drummer.

However - i havent seen the clip becuase I'm at work and its blocked!

But after reading the thread that M2 put on, it sounds like what I saw at Bath Spa University (which I went to!) and it was awesome!

Look for signs and portents...

Yep, it's the Rockin' Revue gig from 2001 that The Bandit guy said he had footage of back in 2006. I was a bit dubious at the time, but he clearly wasn't bullshitting:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=pmW6hNCgNeQ <- The Unknown Stuntman

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=KWD5DMBi1OM <- Circle Sky

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ielnYT_9MEA <- What Goes On

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=vo9j8OgvTxc <- Govinda / The End medley

Seems like he's uploaded the whole gig according to the tracklisting in his original post. I'm really over-the-moon about this; how much footage from this period (post KS; pre-Jeevas) is there apart from this? Probably none at all. It's all really nicely filmed too.

DryKid is correct....and I'm awfull sorry it has taken so long for this to be posted, I had problems gettin it transfered from video tape to dvd, also apologies for the quality, I seem to have over compressed it, I'll try an get it re-done, with a better quality picture.

It was taken in the period when Crispian was in transition, around the PI time...however the other musicians in the clips are not members of PI. The singer is an old friend of Crispians from Bath called Mike & the other members of the collective are session musicians that were quickly aquired & trown together on the day of the gig (Only had half an hours rehersal). Simon is in the video, he is playin the tambourine slightly off screen stage left, he pops up a few times, so watch carefully...he's wearin a black comboy hat Smiler

Glad you liked the posts, even if you did have to wait a while.

PS: Crispian recorded a version of Circle Sky, but once again it was when he was still under contract with Sony & like so many other songs will probably never surface Frowner

There's no need to apologise! I'm just glad to have gotten the chance to see it at all Smiler To be honest it looks fine on youtube; it's near impossible to get things to look great on there because of the low resolution and because everything gets converted to flash regardless of what format you upload it in.

What would really be amazing though is if you could find a way to upload the files from the DVD itself to a file-sharing site somewhere. I appreciate that you've done us all a huge favour by sharing this in any format at all. But this footage is so rare that it really deserves doing full justice Smiler

Ahh thanks for explaining all that; it's clarified a lot. I was trying to figure out who the singer was and not getting anywhere fast. Like others I assumed it was the Pi band, mainly I guess because the bass player is female, and it seemed implausible that Crispian would have played with two female bass players during that short period of time. But obviously I was wrong Smiler (I'll watch it again and look out for Simon when I get home.)

Yeah, it just shows what stuff is still out here. But then in a way I like the fact that however much surfaces, there's always hidden gems out there awaiting discovery Smiler

Thanks again for doing this!!

Nice stuff thanks for uploading!

Doesn't bear much relation to what else Crispian was doing at the time I guess but still lovely to see anything from the 'wilderness years' 2000-2001, haha...

Think it was just something that Crispian did as a favour to a friend & so the songs are ones that Crispian & Mike fancied havin a go at the time & so dont really have any bearing on what Crispian was doin at the time.

Mike the singer in the posts, was also in a band from the south west called Grand Karral, they supported the Jeevas at the Louisiana in Bristol, think they split up in 2002 or 2003...saw them at Ashton Court festival the same year & they were really good...had a look on the internet for them the other day & found a few songs on

http://www.reverbnation.com/grandkarral

They're a lot heavier than the Kulas & the recordings sound like they were done on the cheap, but i still quite like em...

Cool; I'll listen to those when I get home.

Was also going to say that the riff after "The End" sounds very close to the one from "One Louder", which dates from around the same time as this gig (and which I once said was itself taken from "Great Hosannah", before someone pointed out that they were in fact different...)

Im afraid I must disagree with Crispians comment because Scott Stapp (Creed) did a great job of Riders on the Storm.

I believe he and Morrison were both Floridians.

I also have the 7'' with Krieger playing along with Stapp. So if Krieger believes in Scott Stapp he must be apropriate -in my opinion.
