Re: how I got the interview,

In August I registered crispianmills.com , in readiness for the completion of a small fansite (mostly just a summary of the stuff we've discussed on here) in the same spirit of fun and tribute as other small fansites I've done such as kulashaker.net

The domain was completely free to be registered by anyone at that point.

Kula Shaker's management became aware (lol!) that I owned the domain and I received a very nice phone call from their manager who informed me that Crispian would like to own the domain (he, or his record company, previously owned it for a few years from 1999 onwards. However, for approximately 5-6 years from around 2003, it was owned by a domain squatter who posted ads etc at the address). For various reasons including the fact that I would like to support Crispian, and because a .net or a .org will do just as well for my purposes, I agreed to transfer ownership of the domain to Crispian. As a token of his appreciation Crispian has graciously agreed to answer some of my fan questions about his musical work

At present I still own the domain, but we hope to transfer ownership etc in a matter of days rather than weeks.

History repeating? Was this not more or less what happened with monsieur Stian Pride back in 2000? Anyways, I am looking forward to your site and the interview, if only you could have negotiated a soundboard recording from the pi tour into the deal as well... :-)

Thanks for explaining it all 2-J.
It's all very interesting. What a lovely thing for Crispian to do as a way of thanking you.
I'll come along and make the tea for you both then, shall I?

I kinda doubt he wants the name *that* much that he'd offer up a soundboard recording of a Pi gig (it's only the .com that distinguishes it after all and he hasn't owned the domain for years and years..) plus he'd be sure to only do that grudgingly given how precious he his about his songs/material (that's not *necessarily* being critical of the man)
Don't get me wrong I'd love to hear such a recording. At least I can ask him some questions about that time now.

Has anyone else had any replies from Ho Hum regarding the Pi album/EP (whatever they decide to release)? I messaged them a couple of times in the past 6 months but I just got.. "nothing confirmed yet but we are still pursuing this"

Maybe if more people email them they might put more effort in Smiler

I doubt it. It's not Sony we're talking about here; this isn't a label who are likely to sit on an album just cos it doesn't have enough potential hit singles. If nothing is happening then it's far more likely to be because Crispian has higher priorities elsewhere. Or maybe because of legal issues, given that this material was orignally recorded for a different label. Either way, hassling hohum will achieve precisely zilch.

Yeah, you've got a point actually - best not to nag, and just be glad it's actually going to see the light of day, finally *touch wood*
But at least I got (almost instant) replies. If it was sony, the best I'd get would be a standard "thankyou for contacting sony music, we will do our best to respond to this email" sort of reply.

Anyway, this is getting off topic - Crispian questions...

Nicely done 2-J!

Questions for Crispian...tricky. So many interviews, so many questions that have been asked.

Trouble is, I can't think of anything more than what everyone else wants to know, ie, what about the tracks Strangefolk, Be Merciful, Craving Heart, and maybe even For This Love?

And about the Peacock guitar, but someone already mentioned that!

Good luck!

Look for signs and portents...

So, when will the interview take place and will it be in person? I'd like to know the significance of the Black Beach T-shirt!

Please ask him if he plans to go on tour with the band to Latinamerica someday, specially Santiago, Chile or Buenos Aires, Argentina. Red Face
