My media server crashed last week and I lost the video of the Melkweg gig from last year. I tried to download it from the link that was posted here but the file didn't exist anymore. Does anyone have a working link? Thanks

Actually I think I uploaded that concert twice; the first one was a recording of the live stream as it went out on the evening. And then I redid it when the concert re-appeared on fabchannel a week or so later (i.e. the version that's still there now.)

As I recall the second version is the best one; the first one is longer, but the extra footage is just of the crowd before and after the gig, and therefore not terribly exciting. Also they tidied up the camera angles on the 2nd version, so the whole thing looks a bit slicker. (And I think seeking to a particular point in the file didn't work on the original one, so you had to watch the whole thing start to end...)

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that if you have both then upload the second one rather than the first

Actually I deleted the first one when I download the second one, so that file I uploaded is the sedond one I didn't know the camera angles are not the same!

Well thank you for uploading it. I've uploaded stuff enough times to know how tedious it is, so it's an important contribution in itself.

Yeah, it was different throughout. It looks like they kept all the footage from all the different camera angles, and then spent some time doing a proper edit and choosing the best angles and cut points. Obviously when you're doing a live broadcast you don't have that luxury of being able to stop and compare different things, so the results are usually never quite as good. Which is why fabchannel deserve credit for taking the trouble to re-do it all, when they could easily have just re-used the original live edit to save time.

EDIT: Also comparing the two again the original broadcast was in 4:3 and the edited version was 16:9 widescreen. But it seems the actual raw footage was 4:3, and the 16:9 version was produced by cropping the picture at top / bottom.
