The level of detail I posted was perfectly compatible with me having made it up out of thin air, actually. Sarah's 'connections' are common knowledge; more specfically, she knew that I knew about them. What I posted was completely compatible with me not involving anyone else.

'rage' is the wrong word, let's call it annoyance coupled with not giving a fuck. I don't see a 'frenzy' either anywhere around here. Re: motives, they are one's own as long as you're prepared to be honest about them, if you are going to go as far as to log on to a band's forum and enumerate patronising reasons as to why their music is of little artistic worth - and if the very crux of your argument is that you're saying this only for purely objective / aesthetic reasons. I wouldn't stoop so low as to do that about bands I've always hated and / or not cared about. KS mean a lot to some people on here. Those people don't have a sacrosanct right not to be offended by the views of others, it's more that it says something about someone to actually be bothered to log on to a forum to be patronising about a band when you know people feel that way.

If it's any consolation to all of the above, what ever the secret is or connections or whatever, it only makes sense to you who are already in the know. I can only speak for myself here but I haven't a clue as to what all this is about. So the point is this.. whatever this is all about remains between yourselves no secrets have been disclosed as far as I can make out. Kiss and make up. I enjoy reading your comments it would be a shame if anyone took the huff.

The insistent 'it's not personal... it's objective... it's not personal... it's objective' just got to me I guess, as far as I can see ever since she signed up to the Jeevas forum, day 1, it's been personal.

Impossible, as when a signed up on the Jeevas forum I didn't know anyone, Kula or fan. Anyway it's not like I'm mates with the band we just have some mutual friends.

Look I confided something in Pits cos I wanted to confide some personal issues in a friend. She was told it was private and for some reason still told you. But she had the grace to apologize to me. You should never have known my personal issues with any of my friends. It's not like I shouted it all over the place. It's my prerogative to talk about my problems with my friends.

Anyway, I don't share your rage at Sarah - frankly, she's allowed to go off Kula Shaker if she wants to,

I haven't gone off them in the sense of not liking the music any more, not wanting to see them live or buy their albums, it's just I can see flaws in them and in this particular thread it seemed the place we were discussing possible flaws in an attempt to work out why they don't do better. Did I get that wrong? I still think Song of Love is one of the most amazing songs ever, I still love the live show, I still think Alonza's a bass genius - and have said this in previous posts.

So?

I am being honest in my reasons. I'm capable of being objective. And I think patronizing is going a bit far. I could maybe understand a bit more if I'd just randomly starting totally slagging people personally in a new thread but this is called 'What's wrong with Kula Shaker' and I was just sharing my views. I really don't see why everyone's getting so het up.

It's not so much and revelation that's bothering me, it's the fact that James is presuming to speak for my actions because he thinks he knows something about my personal life. I resent being called a liar.

It is enough that Pitry and Sarah knew who it was about, in my opinion. Let's not quibble with semantics anyway (you know darn well that rage and frenzy were intentional hyperbole) - people have been reacting in a rather silly, reactionary, personal manner to the simple assertion that Sarah does not like everything that Kula Shaker does. Yes, people have the right to be upset, we have the right to do an awful lot of things if it's coming to that - but whether we shouldis another matter altogether. It doesn't bother me, but it evidently bothers you. That much is completely fine, it's not a right/wrong situation, but you were still out of line in your manner on this occasion.

It has nothing to do with 'the simple assertion that Sarah does not like everything that Kula Shaker does'. Who could even get annoyed at a thing like that.

In the first instance it has to do with the fact that she deemed it worthwhile to share this critique on the band's official forum, both because it's the band's for one thing and for another because "it's more that it says something about someone to actually be bothered to log on to a forum to be patronising about a band when you know people feel that way."

and second because I don't think she's being entirely honest about the reasons, asserting the opposite to the truth, in fact.

I'm sorry James, but you have lost me - Sarah is a fan, is she not? She's paid for gig tickets, paid for the music, yes? It's not as though she's like Leon or any of the other random hate-merchant - it's perfectly fine to express criticism of a band you've been into on an official forum as long as you are, or at least have been, a legitimate part of the fan community. Yeah, signing up to the forum of a band you now hate would be utterly ridiculous, but this hasn't happened here. However, we evidently disagree on the patronising note, and I don't think that can be resolved, but Kula Shaker are not above evaluation.

I would consider myself as being among those fans to whom Kula Shaker means a great deal, certainly more than any other band I love. There are plenty of others here whom I include in that category, and the vast majority of them don't seem to care that a part of our community is *gasp*...expressing...her...opinion. Yeah, maybe it is because her mates have fallen out with Crispian - and maybe it isn't. Her motives (authorial intention, if you like) do not matter.

Anyway, I have no more to add - I have already repeated myself a little, and this is spreading bad feeling over an issue that really isn't a big deal. Certainly nothing to break friendships over.

Motives DO matter if you're not honest about them. If you bend over backwards to claim objectivity.

And gig tickets don't come with a free 'be disrespectful to the band and their fans on their official forum' card. Neither are they a badge of sincerity, you know as well as I do there's more than one reason people follow bands.

It would seem that what you deem disrespectful, I deem something else. I have nothing else to say on the matter - this thread will undoubtedly be locked/deleted before long, and that may well be prudent.

Woah, first ever deleted thread? D'y think? They didn't even do that for the Hitler guy. Perhaps I'll be hit with the banhammer at the same time, at this rate.

If I am wrong, I am wrong. I feel that this is a little different, that is all.

Au Contraire, KulaBeth, I have been following this thread very closely.

However, pettiness and bitchiness are not to my mind sufficient grounds to delete or lock a thread on a forum which, after all, belongs to you guys, not me.

There were points in this thread when I was sorely tempted though so let's have an end to this. Dragging people's personal lives into the open without their consent, however vaguely, may not be the same as libel but it is extremely bad manners.

And, for the record, it's my belief that a good admin should be like a good butler, unseen until they're required. Please don't mistake that for lack of vigilance or care.

Many Thanks
KS Admin
