Thanks 2-J, (How do you get all this info?) l had hoped for a festival in Spain before booking my holidays. Has anyone ever been to this? It looks as if it will be massive. I'd have liked to take my kids but this looks a bit too big. What do you think?

At a guess I'd say a lack of prompt communication between Kula's management and the people they employ to do the website.

This isn't the first time and it won't be the last, that such details are late added (or not added at all).

This post is regarding Kula Shaker's participation in OLA FESTIVAL (El Ejido (Almería) – Spain). I send it because I am a great fan and I firmly believe that you should be aware of this information.

The point is that I can´t understand how you have agreed to play in a place like El Ejido, the most corrupt place in Spain, a symbol of XXIst century slavery… with thousands of African people living and working in the worst possible conditions … Following is a link to a youtube video with the trailer of a documentary titled “El Ejido, la loi du profit”, aired recently on public Belgian TV:

You also can try googling the title and you will find hundreds of references about this huge injustice.

I usually collaborate with different NGOs involved with helping immigrants and it is common knowledge that the local government permits this outrageous abuse to happen openly in this town… the same town which has the highest number of bank offices and Mercedes cars per inhabitant in Spain. And this is the government which supports the festival where you are going to play this summer. Please think about it, think about how your presence there legitimizes and promotes the image of a local government which uses this type of event to extend the cloud of smoke which hides this institutionalized hell.

Make a difference. Don’t let them use you.
