Wehey!
I just txtd and rang my local (yorkshire & humberside) radio station: Viking Radio The DJ James Piekos has promised to play Hush as one of his anthems tomorrow! The reason I got to txting is because I was in the shower and the dj was saying that January is one of those months that people want to get out of the way. He asked if anyone had a reason to look forward to this month so I txt that I was going to see Kula Shaker. I heared the DJ read my text out and he said 'blimey I didnt know they were still going!' So being a good little Kula Fan I txt again... I said yeah & they have a new keyboard player and a new album Strangefolk, its ace! plz play a track! I then heared him say to the listeners ' if you have an anthem you want playing tomorrow give me a ring!' So what did I do? Of course, I stopped my shower for a second time (dripped all over my phone, I hope I aint killed it) and rang him. He answered and I asked him to play Govinda but he was unsure if he knew it. He said he aint got any of their new stuff so could I name some songs? I said yeah Govinda (lol) Hush, Sound of drums and shower your love. He agreed to play Hush!!! And the rest is history! So...tune into 96.9 fm tomorrow to hear the band on Viking Radio! Its a major radio station in yorkshire & humberside. ------------------------------------ Through the eyes of a skull comes the knowledge of man. |

'Sorry! I'll play it tomorrow (I obviously got confused).. Just before 5.'
Above quote from DJ James. Well thats DJ's for ya! haha....he keeps me waiting! RE: Cheer up 2J lol Getting the music out there (again) is what its about isnt it? If radio is no big deal then why do people pay over the odds for radio demos and band broadcasts? I told the dj there was a new album and to go to www.kulashaker.co.uk to listen to some of it. Who knows he might latch on and play some of the Strangefolks cd in the future! Worth a try isnt it?? And what harm is getting the music played whenever and wherever doing? You might yawn upon hearing kula shaker on the radio but it rocks ------------------------------------ Through the eyes of a skull comes the knowledge of man. |

If it had been ANYTHING other than Hush, I might have been impressed. Hush is the one I 'always' hear (read: occasionally) on stations anyway. Bit mean of 'em to only agree to that one if you ask me. Also Hush is just so Hush, it is its own thing, it won't have people running to the net to google KS.
Nice sentiment but no need to get excited that's all. __________________________________________________________________ I'm an A1 major-league sociopath http://www.gorillaz-unofficial.com http://www.myspace.com/gorillaz http://www.kulashaker.net |

Ok 2J I am getting your opinion....under duress though!
I just thought it was cool getting them played thats all. Its all publicity and like the DJ said 'blimey I didnt know they were still going.' How do you suppose he would have reacted to my request if erm....erm.... he didnt know who Kula Shaker were? Which seems only one step away from not knowing their other material, especially GOVINDA! I'll tell you: He wouldnt have played one of their songs so lets be greatful that he is giving them air space even if it is HUSH which in my opinion is a great song. Not only that, think of the new generation who dont know Kula Shaker at all and are hearing Hush for the first time! What did you think to Hush the first time you heared it? Thinking about getting excited and all..... I wonder what it would take to get YOU excited? There you go man, keep as cool as you can. Face piles of trials with smiles... ------------------------------------ Through the eyes of a skull comes the knowledge of man. |

Your using of this board as your personal soapbox / blog to detail the minutiae of your existence (of which getting excited about this is part, as is bumping your own ignored topics in the other forum) and / or your own 'art' is a trial indeed. Hence...

Im working my way to my 108th battle of the mind!
JOKE! Dont really understand the soap box bit so ill refrain from comment there. The forum : anything and everything else,(to me) comprises of a wide range of topics in my soapy opinion. Art? Mnnnn..there is creative art and there is cutting cows in half kind of art. I dont cut cows in half! Ok so thinking about your perspective. If that was my train of thought I guess I would also feel that putting out cds, writing songs, poetry, stories, making tv & film by consequence would all come under the category of 'soap box.' There is plenty of stuff posted that I view as totally droll and of no interest what so ever to myself but I dont comment because I would rather be constructive than destructive. But thats just me! Its nice to be nice! Its what the world needs!! GOVINDA! ------------------------------------ Through the eyes of a skull comes the knowledge of man. |

xD The stupid cunt puts his head above the parapet when he sees the opportunity for cheap dig, as usual. Glad to have made your day Jeremy, now fuck off
It's just bad manners to bump your own topics, especially about personal stuff. Just have some dignity and walk away (too much to ask?) if people didn't care then, chances are they won't now. I see a ton of stuff I find useless / trivial on here, but nobody is making half as many inane topics as you, it's getting ridiculous. And you've only been here 5 minutes to boot. __________________________________________________________________ I'm an A1 major-league sociopath http://www.gorillaz-unofficial.com http://www.myspace.com/gorillaz http://www.kulashaker.net |

I think your taking all this far too seriously! Its just a forum. Ok then, while we are in the groove of making requests of other members.... Smile please...lol ------------------------------------ Through the eyes of a skull comes the knowledge of man. |

I think it's lovely that you have made the effort to get Kula Shaker played, but the demographics for local radio tend to be dramatically different from those for national stations - younger people will almost exclusively listen to the latter (with good reason, ha). I'd target 6Music, Kerrang!, and Xfm if you're serious about getting Kula Shaker to a new audience.
I suppose Hush is better than nothing being played at all, but it is a cover version, and one that has been used for adverts and in movies...so I have to say, the idea of it being played on local radio is somewhat less than thrilling! It's unfair to insinuate that 2-J doesn't care about the band just because he doesn't care that some guy on a forum heard Kula Shaker on the radio once. We're all here, we all love the band to pieces...and 2-J has made a lot of effort for fans of KS, and indeed the band themselves! You'll see that after you've been here a bit longer, I'm sure! Anyway, it's good to still be excited about Kula Shaker in any capacity. The Ministry has fallen. Scrimgeour is dead. They are coming. |
