Thanks for that! That's the first time I've seend the band themselves talk about The Companeros and the thinking behind it. Also interesting to know that one song from the new album has been recorded (shame you didn't ask him what it was called heh)
Crispian's comments about Oasis are amusing, but I'm not sure the band should be getting back into that whole negative slagging-other-bands-off mentality. Too many bands do that as it is.

Great interview, jenleft! I'm glad to read that the next album won’t be as low-key and that there will be much more promotion and fire behind it like when "K" was released!!!

Yeah that's what he said about the Jeevas' second LP and look what happened to that...
Also I'd like to know where the promotion will be coming from. Advertising would be dependent on actually paying for it and unless Crispian is prepared to dip into his personal fortune I sincerely doubt the budget will be able to much exceed that of Strangefolk's. In terms of them just putting themselves about more, is it really the case that they could do more prominent stuff but chose not to for this LP? I can't see mainstream publications, radio or tv shows (Jools Holland, Jonathan Ross et al) granting them slots, so where is this extra mainstream coverage going to come from?
Sorry but I think Crispian had been hitting the waccy baccy a bit too hard before saying that there will be fire behind the 4th LP like when K was released
The only way any Kula Shaker record will be promoted better than Strangefolk is if they sign to either a major label or a big independent. Maybe they are planning to go with a decent record label, if not it will have the same impact as Strangefolk.

I haven’t actually read a transcript of the original interview with Crispian that led to the whole furore and ultimately their demise first time around. I think they will play all the major European festivals and add to their ever- increasing fan base. The media will have to take notice. If recent shows are anything to go by I expect the new album to be fantastic and if there is any justice in this world, it should catapult them into the media stratosphere.
Crispian probably has all the material wealth he requires so, I see no problem in him investing in himself and the people/project he believes in if that’s what it takes. It is also possible however that the main steam TV/music media still feel he is too “hot” to handle. In order for KS to move forward as they deserve to, I feel it may require Crispian to clarify the past once and for all. He will have to do a big prime time TV interview with the likes of Trevor Mcdonald or someone of his stature (too late for Parkinson). Otherwise the rise and rise of KS may be thwarted. Skye.

He said in The Independent interview last year that he has nothing to say on the "controversy" beyond the statement he made at the time. To be honest, I think that that's probably wise - it's naive to think anything he says now will provide some kind of closure on the whole matter. Best to push on forwards and let others dwell on the past if that's all they want to see.

Yes... going to the Manchester one. Looking forward to it! How about you? Love the new tracks... best think they've done in a long time! I thought 'truth and lies' was godawful...

Haha, I quite liked some stuff from Truth and Lies... I'll be at the Wolverhampton show next week. It's going to be great, especially with 3 Daft Monkeys opening the show.
