OK this is something that I said I'd upload ages ago, and then forgot about (I wish I could say it was the only thing...) There's a promotional radio CD that I came across which is part of the "Planet Live!" series. It claims to be a recording of KS at Portsmouth Pavilions, but I'm pretty sure it's actually the Plymouth Pavilions gig from 26th January 1997. I've come to this conclusion for several reasons:
- I can't find any reliable reference for KS ever having played Portsmouth Pavilions. - Several tracks appear to be identical to the 'Hush' B-sides that definitely were recorded at the January Plymouth gig. - Anecdotal I know, but I met a guy at the SBE gig, and ended up talking about this recording. It transpires that he was at the gig himself, and subsequently heard it on the radio. Anyway, he swore that when he heard it on the radio, a reference Crispian made to "Plymouth" had been edited out. Which is odd, since it suggests someone somewhere actively tried to disguise the true source of the recording. I've ripped it at 320Kbps, but I've retained the somewhat odd way the CD was ordered, which reflects its radio origins. Rather than have each song as a separate track, the gig is divided into separate segments as follows: 1. Baby You're A Rich Man / Knight On The Town / 303 / Gokula 2. Grateful When You're Dead / Jerry Was There / Raagy One / For This Love 3. Drop In The Sea / Tattva / Smart Dogs / Start All Over 4. Hey Dude / Hush / Into The Deep / Govinda 5. interview cut A 6. interview cut B Anyways, there aren't many KS shows that have been professionally recorded and issued in full (the only other one I can think of is the Aston Villa one from the following evening, though that doesn't have "Gokula".) http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R8XM7FOU (157MB) This message has been edited. Cheers for that, I have the 27th performance but not hte 26th
Also, weird place to put Gokula in, I must say, considering the other setlists from that tour.... Gods have no one to pray to. |

What part? it all sounded quite reaosnable to me
I have to admit though it's a shame they never did again with Smart Dogs what they did in Roskilde (and Glasto? Can't remember!) 97, the brilliant saxophone solo... Gods have no one to pray to. |

Thanks, drykid!
I've got the same live bootleg which was recorded by audience, and it's a recording of Plymouth Pavillon from 26th January 1997. I listened to 'Smart Dogs' to compare them, they're definitely the same |

Ahh OK thanks for the info; I guess this isn't a complete concert after all then. I did notice that Hollow Man was missing compared to the Aston Villa tracklisting, but I figured maybe they decided not to play it at Plymouth. But obviously from what you're saying they did play it and it just got cut out of the broadcast. Still it's only one track short of being the complete concert And thanks for confirming that it definitely is from Plymouth! By the way how does the quality of the bootleg compare with the radio CD? If the bootleg is good quality then maybe the missing track could be edited into the radio version to fill the gap. "I have waited to be here Now I feel you, feel you near Take me home" |

Unfortunately, compare with the radio CD, the quality of the bootleg is not good. But anyway, I uploaded it here: http://www.savefile.com/files/1422966 |

Thanks drykid!
It's a long weekend down here and with the temperature staying above the century mark there's nothing I'll enjoy better than having a listen to the latest batch of KS uploads! |

Actually that's pretty good for a bootleg, although I agree that no-one could mistake it for the proper version. So to try to edit it into the rest seamlessly would be a bad idea. I think the best solution would be to take the proper version and edit down into single mp3 tracks (or just split the fourth part into two between "Hush" and "Into The Deep".) That way people would have the choice of playing "Hollow Man" when it got to that point in the concert, or just continuing on with the proper recording instead. I'll probably have a go at it myself when I get a chance. It's kind of annoying to be honest that on the radio recording it's edited so that Crispian's "Thank you! It's great to play to a crowd that are up for it!" seems to be in response to how "Hush" was received. But by listening to the bootleg you can tell that it was actually the crowd's enthusiastic response to "Hollow Man" instead that really caused him to say that. This message has been edited.
