Hi Everyone,
Leo from the sunrisecelebration.com here, the festival in june. Ive tried contacting the agents and the info address posted recently but I'm not getting any joy. I'd really love to be able to contact the band and/or management to see if theyre free to play at our event.Email me direct at leo@sunrisecelebration.com

Leo,

I think your best bet is to send an offer to the agent. The chance of them replying is greater if there's actual money on the table. Agents get loads of very general enquiries, so you can't really expect an answer if you don't seem serious.

"Money talks, bullshit walks" - isn't that the cool kids say?

Hope this helps!

I don't, but from the wording of his post and the fact that he's posting here to get in touch with the booking agent, I assume that he hasn't. I work with this exact kind of thing on a daily basis and I know what kind of enquiries we get.

Leo might or might not have made an official offer, my guess is he didn't, but what purpose did your post serve? Other than question my advice that is...

My advise is: Have something constructive to say or shut it! (Assuming that the thread is somewhat serious in tone, that is).

(Yes, I have edited this post twice).

Your original post was patronising to the OP. He is organising a festival and has booked a lot of other things for that so I'm sure that he has experience in this field. It was just, I felt, a rash assumption, bordering on the unhelpful - and hardly constructive itself.

Have you checked their website? It doesn't seem to be run like a mini-glastonbury at any rate.

This isn't a professional festival yet, but I'm giving as relevant advice as seems approprite to the festival.

2-J, believe me please. I don't have expertise very many places, but I do here. I am/was trying to assist Leo, nothing else. I at no point tried to sound patronising, but maybe that's how you hear everyone?

Edit: I sent Leo the contact details for Kula Shakers booking agent. I advised him how to approach this agent. What did you do?

No mate - it's just how I hear you. And I'm not generalising there. I mean, in the original post. Hence my reply. It's not a 'mini glastonbury' but neither is it an event in someone's back yard. If he's done that much so far it goes without saying he can handle judging whether he feels it appropriate to offer money.

http://www.sunrisecelebration.com/home.html someone who has done all that, needs to be told to offer money to an act in advance?

Should I run all my advise by you to see if it's acceptable before offering it?

Contribute something, stop moaning. Wink

No, there's no need to run it by me Roll Eyes Hyperbole, hyperbole...

But why complain when I offer my opinion on it? It's a discussion forum after all. I am contributing in offering my opinion of the advice.

In any case, must each post be a guide to The Meaning Of Life? If so, I think we can strike off a good 90% of posts here. Including most of yours (and mine). The majority of posts here are little asides and not hugely informative. So why take exception in this case?

Because I've only tried to be helpful and you've only tried to be destructive. In this case, that is. At least that's how I experienced it.

We can forget about it as far as I'm concerned, I can't be bothered to start another everlasting argument.

Sleep tight all! Smiler

Great. I saw (pretty much) the exact opposite, given that I felt your initial reply wasn't constructive in the least.

Sleep well.
