Groningen 28/02/08

I'm really sorry for the headline, but that was the way it was! The audience in Groningen was one of the lamest I experienced so far!
The venue they played, the Oosterpoort, was lovely, they even got to play the big concert hall which is usually only used for classic concerts with seating in the back. And what can I say? They really SAT there! The rest of the audience was standing around in front of the stage, all you could see was slight movements, even during the rocky numbers! Only during "Hush" like 10 people started jumping.
But Kula made the best of it, it was a really good gig, and the sound and light show were really stunning. Therefore Crispian wasn't very talkative either...

Anyway,
here's the setlist:

Sound of Drums
Hey Dude
Out on the Highway
Second Sight
Jerry Was There
303
MMG
Shower your Love
Hurricane Season
Tattva
Hush
True love will find you in the end
Song of Love

Dictator
Great Hosannah
Govinda

and some impressions:

Oh and I have to say a BIG thanks to Pauli, he's a true star! He helped me to get something very special for the fanzine... Big Grin
btw he told me they're not going to play any big festivals in the UK (due to some promoter problems?! didn't really understand that) and that the band gets along so much better than back in the day. They even share rooms now - Alonza and Harry, and Pauli and Crispian. He says Crispian is the tidiest person he knows, he never smells! Wink And, that they WILL start to record the new album after the tour, it is meant to be out next year. "Even though it always is a very exhausting process, but I'm sure Crispian will force us to get into the studio quickly!"

More Kula inside info in the next zine!! Smiler

Oh, all you technical freaks (2-J, drykid!) my boyfriend recorded the whole gig (he was one of the brave ones warming the seats cos we suggested that would be the best place to get a decent recording) but it came out a bit distorted at some points, maybe one of you could try and reengineer it a bit? Then we'd have at least one okay bootleg from this tour!

Bad news (no summer dates) and good news (a new album maybe for the next year).
Fantastic pics, Andrea!

Maybe they will still play some euro dates if not UK festivals. Parkpop is already booked it seems, maybe more will follow...

Well there is already one booked, so it would seem they aren't ruling out Euro dates - that's all.

They will play festivals but no big ones in England. That doesn't mean they don't play ANY festival in the UK. I don't think Paul knew at all for which ones they'll be booked. I recommended the Hurricane Festival in North Germany though Wink

Thank you so much for the video and the excellent pics. Every audience must have its own personality. It must be strange for them to play in front of an unresponsive crowd. like you, I can't understand how people can remain so composed at a Kula Shaker gig. Thanks 2-J for information about festival.
