What can I say..... First to arrive and last to leave....!I was absolutely blown away! Southampton in September last year was good (better than the Thekla which was one of their first comeback shows in June), but last night was out of this world!
Fantastic atmosphere, made all the better by the fact that I laughed so much that my head hurt when the 'support band' can on......I wonder if they'll be doing the same thing in the Italian leg of their tour??!!! I though Hurricane Season and Narayana were amazing - so much tighter than Southampton, I was completely mesmerised by the while show. Now I'm just wondering whether I can get another ticket on the tour! Had a quick chat with Jo, Pauli, his brother and poor Don Pecker who the doorman wouldn't let in the main door to begin with because he didn't have a press pass...despite bringing rations of what looked like blackberry crumble for the band!!!!And, now I'm sitting back sipping tea from my lovely new red shiny Kula Shaker mug thinking....GIVE ME MORE!!!!!! (Kula Shaker that is.... not tea) "Life is something that passes you by while your busy making other plans ". |

Twas a damn good gig to be sure - if you are the wearer of that fine tie dye MH teeshirt, you will get your Pauli pic tonight. (If not, then you have a challenger to your nick!)

There were some goons booing during the George Orwell cartoons. Perhaps they'd be happier at an Oasis concert.
Are people booing at every gig? Song of Love and Hurricane Season were immense, and I thought Harry was superb last night. |

Hi there,
Actually I'm the wife of the wearer of that fine tie dye T shirt (I'm the one with the better fashion sense- 'cos I bought it for him!)and yes he is a CHALLENGE !(Only joking, Bless him.)Roger had his picture taken with Pauli at the beginning and I had mine take with him at the end! So we will now have a matching pair... thanks for that... I think Roger said he had a photo to send you too, so I'll remind him if he hasn't already sent it. What a fab night...I'm still excited 24 hours later!!! "Life is something that passes you by while your busy making other plans ". |

RE: The booing.
There were people shouting 'get on with it' during the animation at warrington. How rude! The animations and showmanship obviously fly straight over their lame heads. Glad to hear the gig was great though!! I know that feeling of wanting the next kula fix, its such an elevating experience. It makes me feel like the cat that just devoured all the cream. Nor this moment re-lived |

Yep, there's always are few aren't there....but thankfully nothing could spoil such a fantastic evening. (Even some 6 ft tall drunken 14 stone student trying to use my 5 ft high shoulder as a step to throw himself over the barrier at the front). Unfortunately a couple of friends I came with did get seperated because of the drunken louts behind us that kept shoving them out of the way and head butting us..... but even that could not mar the experience! GIVE ME MORE!!!! "Life is something that passes you by while your busy making other plans ". |

Bloody hell! I cant tolerate people like that. When I went to sheffield my wife had to stop me from pulling this tall guy to one side. He decided to push/stand in front of us as soon as the gig began. Left to me I would have been thrown out (and missed the gig) I guess. Some people are just all me me me. Nor this moment re-lived |

any chance you could post some pics on here? |

Well, since you ask, here's some lower res pics. As for the camera, it's just an Olympus C60 Zoom, set to 1/30 shutter speed with a manual adjustment for the aperture and ISO set at 400 - the highest it goes. I have it saved as a custom setting and it gets used for most gigs, working pretty well on the whole. Unfortunately, I seem to have got some tiny specks of dust in the camera though, which means each bit of noise has to be manually cleaned up, but the results are usually worth it.
Here's the Jerry (sic!) pic: One from Song Of Love: And finally, one from Govinda: I also have some nice ones of Harry and Alonza (not enough light on Pauli to get a good pic) and some of Dr Joel & Co, which I will put up at the weekend in the zip along with mp3s of my recording of Dr Joel's set. Will probably put better resolution pics in there too. This message has been edited. Last edited by: boombox, |

That first photo is awesome. The lighting on it is absolutely perfect.
I'm interviewing the band on Saturday and I'm hoping I'll be able to get my slr in with me too. Fingers crossed! If so, I'll post some pics. |
