I've just noticed the lyrics to the "lost verse" of Die For Love (don't want to strike your brother down, I'd rather dress up as a clown) are written in the sleeve. I knew it was dropped from the live version but didn't notice the lyrics were printed.
Or am I just stating the obvious? ;-) Look for signs and portents... |

That's interesting - I wonder if it was a last minute re-record? Either that, or they had the covers ready before they had finished the album, although Crispian changes lyrics around so much, that that doesn't seem wise to me!
The Ministry has fallen. Scrimgeour is dead. They are coming. |

Funny thing, that... Odd. Maybe it was a later re-recordng - or maybe they changed their minds about those lyrics too late - Crispian doesn't sing iog anymore live, does he?
I think they can sptr pf cut a part of the song out, like all the shorter radio edits etc, without it being too obvious. I'll be honest I don't think I even gave the lyrics a proper look, as Crispian's singing is very clear and I dind't really need them... Gods have no one to pray to. |

Even after the album's release, I remember Crispian singing the mysterious lost verse live, but it dissappeared quite soon. I really liked it, and good as the album version is, i thought it leant the song an epic quality which turned it from very good to great! I think it's a shame we never got to hear a studio recording of the full version...
However, I can see why they cut that last bit out, not least because it gave the song a little too much similarity to 'Ballad of a Thin Man'... _________________________ Mark Charlesworth: Sunise and Shorelines. The new book, OUT NOW! Available on Amazon.co.uk |
