Maybe someone on here doesn't have anyone to bring along and you could be their "+1".

Lord Strangebloke is a lovely man!!!! Smiler

Interested to know how tickets were allocated - first come, first served would seem to me the way it was done. That is, I suppose, the fairest way, but it's a shame that not all the really frequent users of this forum (and by logical extension the kinda most die hard fans) were somehow given priority.

But anyway, Lord Strangebloke has saved the day. And to all those not going, our love and thoughts to you and let's all download it tomorrow.

Basically, a set number of tickets were set aside and all names were put in the hat. This consisted of mailing list members, Myspace fans and then Bebo fans.

The majority of tickets i believe were for mailing list members. The smaller pool of tickets was left for myspace and bebo members. And when i say majority, that still doesn't mean a lot as the venue is tiny.

Hope that sort of made sense. Confused

That makes sense.

What's a Bebo site?

And when you say "tiny" - what's tiny? I thought the ICA held 350 which is bigger than the recent warm up tour isn't it?

Bebo have been quite helpful regarding tonights show and in return they asked for the band to have some presence on the site. (the Kula Shaker page has had about 4000 hits in the space of 24 hours).
They have around 9 million users in the UK and ranked quite high up in terms of page views (ahead of ebay, msn and Myspace). End of the day, every little helps!

There is such a thing as spreading oneself too thinly though. What next? Facebook? MSN Group? Livejournal? Etc

That was my only thought.

Myspace is the biggest (by far), most global and most music-centric. That's why official site + official myspace makes a nice combo.

True..it's just in this case Bebo have been very supportive of the band and they didn't ask for much in return except for a page.
Bebo are also involved in a lot of sponsorship of music events and tend to run a lot of competitions in conjunction with many top artists. It will hopefully be beneficial to the band in the long run.

I can't see how they divided people into three groups when all they had was a bunch of emails asking for tickets? The only way they could have known which category each respondee fell into was either to set up 3 different inboxes (which I don't think they did?) or to cross reference the email addresses people supplied against the existing mailing list (which would've been a nightmare...)

Not that I really care, since I got my ticket anyway Smiler
